Position Description

The Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Davis, is seeking candidates for a tenure-track faculty role in Sociocultural Anthropology. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Anthropology or a closely related field by the start of the academic term.

We are looking for individuals with innovative research agendas that address pressing global issues. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a robust and methodologically advanced field research program that engages with significant contemporary challenges. This role aims to enhance and diversify the department's existing strengths across various methodologies, geographic areas, and theoretical frameworks. Research focus and geographic scope are flexible.

We particularly encourage research that explores human responses to critical issues such as rising xenophobia, environmental transformations, and increasing global disparities in wealth and health. Candidates who employ creative scholarly approaches and novel modes of inquiry are especially welcome.

This position entails a nine-month appointment within the Department of Anthropology, with a proposed start date aligned with the academic calendar. Teaching responsibilities will include four courses per academic year at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
