Job Summary

H&K Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled Shop Mechanic to join our team on 2nd shift. As a Shop Mechanic, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining electric, diesel, and gasoline vocational trucks.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on trucks and equipment, adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies.
  • Read job orders and diagnose malfunctions to plan work procedures.
  • Install new ignition systems, align front wheels, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts.
  • Replace gas or diesel engines and examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment.
  • Lubricate and service vehicles, fabricate special lifting or towing attachments, and complete standard maintenance on trucks and equipment.
  • Ensure state inspection requirements are met for cars, trucks, and trailers.

Requirements
  • One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school in diesel mechanics or a related field, or 2 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Clean driving record and ability to work a 2nd shift schedule.
  • Customer Service and Teamwork skills, mathematical skills, and ability to meet physical requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 years of related experience and/or training.
  • State Inspection license and experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries.
  • OSHA, MSHA, or other relevant safety certifications.

Work Environment
  • Noise level is loud at times.
  • At times required to work outdoors in all environments.
  • Hours regularly exceed 40 in a week and 8 in a day.
