Job Overview

Location: This position is remote, with a preference for candidates located in the operational states of Ascend Wellness Holdings.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Build and lead a high-performing procurement and sourcing organization, focusing on attracting, developing, and retaining exceptional talent.
  • Craft and execute a comprehensive procurement and sourcing strategy that aligns with the company's overarching business objectives.
  • Engage with senior leadership and operational managers to identify business requirements and translate them into effective procurement and sourcing strategies.
  • Initiate continuous improvement projects to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of procurement and sourcing operations.

Operational Execution:

  • Oversee the formulation and implementation of category management strategies for all significant spending categories, acting as the Category Manager for critical areas.
  • Evaluate market trends and supplier capabilities to devise robust category strategies.
  • Ensure category management initiatives deliver value, including cost reductions, risk management, and enhancements in supplier performance.
  • Lead the creation of RFPs, RFQs, and other sourcing documents, guiding the strategic sourcing process to establish beneficial, cost-effective supplier relationships.
  • Conduct negotiations with key suppliers to secure advantageous terms and conditions.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with essential suppliers to guarantee optimal quality, cost, and service performance.
  • Implement supplier performance management systems, setting performance expectations, conducting regular assessments, and driving continuous improvement efforts.
  • Identify potential supplier risks and develop strategies for mitigation.
  • Design and execute comprehensive procurement strategies to optimize the procure-to-pay process, ensuring efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement activities with broader supply chain initiatives, enhancing overall organizational efficiency.
  • Establish best practices and key performance indicators for procure-to-pay processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce cycle times.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements in all procurement and sourcing activities.
  • Develop training programs for procurement and sourcing team members and conduct training sessions as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement and sourcing, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing effective procurement and sourcing strategies.
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse workforce.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement and sourcing processes, including category management, strategic sourcing, contract management, and supplier management.
  • Experience in managing and nurturing strong supplier relationships and leading supplier relationship management initiatives.
  • Strong leadership presence with experience in negotiation and contract management.
  • Experience overseeing the complete procure-to-pay process, including requisitioning, ordering, invoicing, and payment.
  • Familiarity with procurement and sourcing software tools.
