Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Civil Engineer-in-Training to join our team at RESPEC. As a key member of our Facilities Market Sector, you will be responsible for designing innovative world-class projects using state-of-the-art technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Work within the Autodesk Civil 3D environment to develop site drawings and models for civil site improvements, roadways, and utility infrastructure.
  • Project Planning: Prepare construction plans, design calculations, specifications, bid documents, and cost estimates.
  • Site Inspections: Perform site visits and inspections at various locations across the state of Alaska.
  • Reporting and Presentations: Prepare design calculations, written reports, and project presentations.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work on multiple projects simultaneously, proactively collaborating with team members and clients to resolve technical challenges.
  • Progress Tracking: Track work progress within established scopes and schedules and alert project managers of any issues that may affect them.
  • Client and Team Communication: Prepare clear and concise written communications and participate in client and team meetings.
  • Research and Proposal Writing: Conduct research and assist in writing proposals to assist in bringing in new work.
  • Market Sector Support: Support other market sectors on design projects as workload dictates.
Qualifications:
  • Education: B.S. in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Certification: Engineer-in-Training who can obtain a P.E. license
  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of experience
  • Software Skills: Working knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD & Civil 3D
  • Computer Skills: Solid knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams
  • Design Experience: Experience in preparing plans and design calculations for transportation, utility, and site improvements
  • Personal Qualities: Self-motivated, energetic, and able to take on new tasks
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or on a team
  • Attention to Detail: Detail oriented and well organized with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Work Ethic: Strong professional work ethic
