Weather Forecaster

Position Overview:

Gray Television, Inc. is seeking a skilled meteorologist to enhance our esteemed First Alert Weather Team. This role involves close collaboration with the Chief Meteorologist, news management, and production teams to deliver thorough weather reporting across various platforms including newscasts, streaming services, digital content, and social media, particularly during severe weather events.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate raw scientific data, meteorological models, and pertinent information to formulate precise weather forecasts for our audience.
• Craft engaging and informative weather presentations suitable for broadcast, streaming, digital, and social media platforms.
• Identify and articulate the significant weather narrative of the day to a diverse audience across multiple channels.
• Monitor and accurately predict severe weather conditions.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of years of experience in broadcast meteorology is preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of operational radar and familiarity with the TWC MAX system is advantageous.
• A degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is required.
• Certification from the National Weather Association and/or American Meteorological Society is a plus, though not mandatory.
• Willingness to adapt to varying schedules and work shifts, particularly given the unpredictable nature of weather phenomena.
• Ability to produce high-quality written weather content for digital platforms.
