Meteorologist - KPTV

Job Summary:

Gray Television, Inc. is seeking a skilled Meteorologist to join our First Alert Weather Team. This role involves working closely with the Chief Meteorologist, news managers, and producers to provide comprehensive weather coverage for our newscasts, streaming updates, digital content, and severe weather events.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze raw scientific data, models, and other relevant information to create accurate weather forecasts for our viewing area.
• Develop compelling, conversational presentations of weather forecasts for broadcast, streaming, digital, and social media audiences.
• Identify and communicate the "weather story of the day" to a cross-platform audience.
• Accurately forecast and track severe weather events.

Requirements:

• At least years of experience as a broadcast meteorologist preferred.
• Operational radar knowledge and excellent command of the TWC MAX system preferred.
• BS/BA in Meteorology/Atmospheric Science/Communications/Journalism or equivalent background.
• Seals of the National Weather Association and/or American Meteorological Society are preferred, but not necessary.
• Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts, especially considering the unpredictable nature of weather events.
• Proficiency in producing written weather content for our digital platforms.
