Med Surg 3:

General Surgery Unit:

Our dynamic patient population includes surgical, trauma, and medical patients. Our surgeries typically involve the neck to the gut. This population includes GI surgeries such as colon resections, small bowel resections, cholecystectomies, and appendectomies. We also care for vascular surgeries, mastectomies, thyroidectomies, and maxillofacial procedures, etc. Patients may have an ostomy, NGT, and/or other feeding tube and/or drains.

Trauma patients may have multiple injuries, chest tubes, a tracheostomy, and/or other drains, but have stabilized enough for a non-ICU/step-down med-surg floor admission.

We are a level 2 trauma center.

We are a team of dedicated nurses, patient care techs, and secretaries focused on patient safety and developing professional relationships with the entire care team. We are committed to growing our staff into leaders of tomorrow.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the delivery of quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operational issues during their shift.
  • Provides clinical care as needed when census demands.
  • Communicates patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leader(s).
  • Serves as a resource for guidance and assistance to the staff.

Qualifications:



MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Graduate of a nursing program.



MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting required.



MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. BLS certification required.



ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Two or more years of nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred. Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable. Demonstrated clinical competency.
