Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Services Specialist I/II to join our team. As a key member of our social services department, you will be responsible for providing critical support to vulnerable populations, including children, adults, and families in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and apply laws, policies, and regulations related to social services, including child welfare and adult protective services.
  • Coordinate and administer programs, services, and resources to meet the needs of clients.
  • Conduct assessments, interviews, and counseling sessions to identify client needs and develop individualized service plans.
  • Provide case management services, including monitoring compliance, tracking expenditures, and preparing budget estimates.
  • Collaborate with other agencies, teams, and stakeholders to provide comprehensive services to clients.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Stay up-to-date with current trends, developments, and best practices in social work and human services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a human services area, as mandated by Section 22VAC of the Administrative Code of Virginia.
  • Valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to pass a DMV/driving record check, pre-employment drug screen, Central Registry (CPS) check, and/or criminal history search.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and experience applying complex federal and state laws, regulations, and policies related to child welfare programs.
  • Case management experience and possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license.
  • Prior work experience in social services or an internship in human services.
