Fire Protection Systems Designer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Systems Designer/Engineer to join our team at EXP. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and specifying fire protection systems for our clients in the hospitality, gaming, entertainment, and science and technology sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop fire protection systems for commercial buildings, including fire pumps, sprinkler systems, and suppression systems.
  • Develop and edit specifications for fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with local codes and regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure timely completion of projects and meet scheduled milestones.
  • Conduct site surveys and inspections to identify potential fire hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain the Engineering Book for projects, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and review submittals from contractors.
  • Apply risk management procedures to minimize exposure to problems and ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Develop and write new specification sections, details, and studies for fire protection systems.
  • Travel to client meetings and project sites to conduct walk-through activities and resolve issues.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in building fire protection design, preferably in commercial buildings.
  • Engineering degree (BS Architectural Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Fire Protection Engineering, or equivalent degree) preferred.
  • EIT License (Engineer in Training) preferred.
  • REVIT MEP and Auto CAD proficiency.
  • Ability to travel to client meetings and project sites.
