Position Overview

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager plays a pivotal role in the establishment, execution, and ongoing enhancement of initiatives and frameworks that promote excellence in environmental stewardship, health, and safety practices. This position is crucial in cultivating a proactive culture of accountability, engagement, and sustainability, aimed at minimizing risks and liabilities across the designated region.

Key Responsibilities

The EHS Manager will oversee various critical functions, including but not limited to:

  • Supporting the creation, execution, and management of safety initiatives (such as Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, Emergency Response, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, and Hearing Conservation) to ensure adherence to OSHA and relevant environmental regulations across multiple sites.
  • Administering the workers' compensation loss control program, which encompasses monitoring claims, reducing associated costs, and facilitating early return-to-work processes.
  • Conducting thorough investigations of incidents, preparing necessary documentation, and identifying preventive measures to avert future occurrences.
  • Delivering comprehensive orientation for new hires, emphasizing the organization's high standards regarding safety protocols and regulations.
  • Collaborating with the EHS team to foster a proactive safety culture that prioritizes incident prevention and compliance with regulations.
  • Organizing and participating in safety committee activities to enhance workplace safety.
  • Setting specific EHS objectives and formulating action plans to achieve these goals.
  • Monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on EHS performance, pinpointing areas for improvement, and implementing necessary preventive and corrective measures.
  • Conducting internal EHS audits to verify compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Partnering with site leadership to ensure all essential EHS operational controls are effectively implemented and that action items are addressed promptly.
  • Designing, delivering, and/or coordinating EHS training and resources.
  • Managing and maintaining site-specific internal EHS systems and reporting mechanisms.
  • Ensuring that appropriate countermeasures are identified to prevent reoccurrence through a comprehensive incident investigation process, including root cause analysis.
  • Coordinating all regulatory or company-mandated testing and training, including industrial hygiene assessments as required.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution in occupational safety, environmental science, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in EHS, preferably within a manufacturing context.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze data and draw sound conclusions.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to engage in team-oriented processes, influencing team dynamics and driving decision-making towards effective solutions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal regulatory standards.
  • Familiarity with current safety and loss control practices is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
