JOB SUMMARY:

The Accountant oversees and manages the daily operations of the Accounting Department. This role is crucial in establishing the financial health of the organization by developing and implementing robust systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial data to the Plant Controller. Collaboration with the financial management team is essential to secure the company’s fiscal stability.

Annual Salary:
$50k-$65k


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

1. Manage accounts payable functions, including reporting and reconciling received but not invoiced balances. Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to enhance processes.

2. Prepare weekly billing and associated workpapers.

3. Conduct daily reconciliations of production data and generate reports.

4. Oversee weekly packaging reporting.

5. Assist in managing the daily functions of the Accounting Department, which includes month-end and year-end closing processes, accounts payable/receivable, general ledger maintenance, payroll, utilities, budgeting, and other departmental activities.

a. Coordinate and complete annual audits.

b. Establish and enforce appropriate accounting methods, policies, and principles.

c. Enhance systems and procedures, initiating corrective actions as necessary.

d. Supervise the general ledger to ensure compliance with financial deadlines.

e. Support budgeting and forecasting efforts.

6. Analyze accounting data and generate financial reports or statements.

a. Maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions accurately.

b. Provide management with recommendations on financial strategies and plans.

c. Assist in developing and implementing new procedures to improve departmental workflow.

7. Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closings.

8. Provide training to new and existing staff as necessary.

a. Guide staff on handling non-routine reporting transactions.

9. Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

§ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

§ Demonstrated experience in accounting or finance, with a preference for 2-3 years in accounts payable.

§ Proficient in MS Office, accounting software, and database management.

§ Ability to analyze and interpret large datasets effectively.

§ Proficient in English, both written and spoken.

§ Strong verbal and written communication skills.

§ Excellent mathematical abilities.

§ Highly organized with a keen attention to detail.

§ Strong work ethic and a positive demeanor.

§ Professional attitude and appearance are essential.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

ACTIVITIES:

Primarily sedentary office work, requiring prolonged periods of sitting.

HEARING:

Must be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive standard information.

REPETITIVE MOTION:

Frequent use of wrists, hands, and fingers is required.

VISUAL ABILITIES:

Normal visual acuity is necessary for preparing or inspecting documents and operating machinery.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:

Must be able to exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally throughout the day.
