Position Overview:
As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will provide both urgent and non-urgent out-of-hospital medical care and transportation services to individuals who are ill or injured.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver pre-hospital emergency and non-emergency medical care and transportation services to patients.
- Ensure the safe execution of all patient care duties related to patient transport.
- Accurately document all aspects of patient transport in a timely manner, adhering to established best practices.
- Maintain all medical equipment in a state of readiness.
- Operate vehicles safely while managing all tasks associated with patient transport.
- Provide high-quality medical transportation services for wheelchair and livery patients as required.
- Complete all assigned continuing medical education (CME) and training materials punctually.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new team members.
- Keep crew quarters in good condition.
- Participate in the training of students during their practical rotations within the EMS system.
- Fulfill all compliance obligations pertinent to the role.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Ensure the cleanliness of vehicles and related equipment, both internally and externally.
- Suggest improvements to supervisory staff to enhance the efficiency of the EMS system.
Additional Information:
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license.
- Compliance with random drug screening protocols.
- Current BLS CPR certification from AHA, ARC, or NSC, not expired.
- Completion of assigned CME and educational materials on time.
- For advanced staff, maintenance of medical control authorization from the designated hospital.
- Current valid certification at EMT and/or AEMT level, with no grace period allowed.
- Minimum of six months of relevant experience.
- Preferred certifications include PALS, ACLS, PHTLS, hazardous materials awareness, and EVOC.
Working Conditions:
Manual Skills: Requires some manual dexterity and coordination.
Occupational Risks: Involves significant occupational hazards.
Physical Demands: Requires heavy physical effort, with the ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force.
Environmental Factors: Exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and other challenging conditions.
