Position Overview:

As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will provide both urgent and non-urgent out-of-hospital medical care and transportation services to individuals who are ill or injured.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver pre-hospital emergency and non-emergency medical care and transportation services to patients.
  2. Ensure the safe execution of all patient care duties related to patient transport.
  3. Accurately document all aspects of patient transport in a timely manner, adhering to established best practices.
  4. Maintain all medical equipment in a state of readiness.
  5. Operate vehicles safely while managing all tasks associated with patient transport.
  6. Provide high-quality medical transportation services for wheelchair and livery patients as required.
  7. Complete all assigned continuing medical education (CME) and training materials punctually.
  8. Assist in the orientation and training of new team members.
  9. Keep crew quarters in good condition.
  10. Participate in the training of students during their practical rotations within the EMS system.
  11. Fulfill all compliance obligations pertinent to the role.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  13. Ensure the cleanliness of vehicles and related equipment, both internally and externally.
  14. Suggest improvements to supervisory staff to enhance the efficiency of the EMS system.

Additional Information:

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Compliance with random drug screening protocols.
  • Current BLS CPR certification from AHA, ARC, or NSC, not expired.
  • Completion of assigned CME and educational materials on time.
  • For advanced staff, maintenance of medical control authorization from the designated hospital.
  • Current valid certification at EMT and/or AEMT level, with no grace period allowed.
  • Minimum of six months of relevant experience.
  • Preferred certifications include PALS, ACLS, PHTLS, hazardous materials awareness, and EVOC.

Working Conditions:

Manual Skills: Requires some manual dexterity and coordination.

Occupational Risks: Involves significant occupational hazards.

Physical Demands: Requires heavy physical effort, with the ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force.

Environmental Factors: Exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and other challenging conditions.
