Paramedic Technician

Overview:
Provide urgent and non-urgent medical care and transportation services to individuals experiencing health emergencies or injuries.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver pre-hospital emergency and non-emergency medical assistance and transportation services to patients in need.
- Ensure safe execution of all patient care duties related to patient transport.
Maintain equipment in a state of readiness at all times.
Operate vehicles safely while managing all aspects of patient transport.
Deliver high-quality medical transportation services to wheelchair and livery patients as required.
Complete all mandatory continuing medical education (CME) and training materials as designated by the organization.
Participate in the orientation and training of new personnel as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of crew quarters.
Assist in the training of students during their practical rotations within the EMS system.
Adhere to all compliance requirements associated with the role.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Ensure internal and external cleanliness of vehicles and related equipment.
Propose improvements to leadership to enhance the efficiency of the EMS system.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Essential Requirements:
Valid driver's license in the State of Connecticut. Compliance with random drug testing protocols. Current AHA, ARC, or NSC BLS CPR certification that is not past the recommended renewal date. Timely completion of all required CME and educational materials as assigned.
For advanced personnel with primary medical control affiliation through DH EMS:
Submission of CME documentation by the annual deadline, and maintenance of medical control authorization from Danbury Hospital.
For advanced personnel with primary medical control affiliation through another service:
Maintain medical control authorization from Danbury Hospital.
Licensure:
Current valid CT DPH certification at EMT and/or AEMT level (Hospital does not recognize any grace period - certification must not be expired).
Current Basic license with 0 to 6 months of experience at level 1. Current EMT-Intermediate license with 6 months to 1 year of experience at level 2.Experience:
Minimum of six months in a relevant role.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in PALS, ACLS, PHTLS, hazardous materials awareness, and EVOC.
Work Environment:
Manual Skills:
Significant manual dexterity and coordination required.
Occupational Hazards:
High risk associated with the role.
Physical Demands:
Very heavy physical effort required, with the ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force.
Physical Conditions:
Exposure to various environmental factors including dirt, odors, noise, and human waste.
