Position Overview

The Senior Project Manager for Engineering and Operations is responsible for overseeing complex, high-stakes projects that require extensive resources and integration across various functions. This role involves managing all phases of project life cycles, from initiation through to closure, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of large-scale capital projects with minimal supervision.
  • Establish and monitor project cost, scope, schedule, and risk to ensure adherence to approved parameters.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that clearly outline team responsibilities, timelines, and procurement strategies.
  • Coordinate the creation of both conceptual and detailed designs.
  • Engage with external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
  • Manage the physical construction process and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Provide regular progress updates to management and stakeholders in accordance with established communication protocols.
  • Oversee the procurement process for external materials and services necessary for project success.
  • Facilitate interdepartmental communication to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced project managers and team members to foster their professional development.

Principal Responsibilities

In addition to the above, the Principal Project Manager will:

  • Oversee all aspects of permitting, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple internal departments and external agencies to deliver projects effectively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate teamwork and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and provide innovative solutions to challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten years of related professional experience.
  • Advanced degree or professional certifications in project management.
  • Experience in the electric utility sector and familiarity with applicable regulations.
