Psychiatric Social Health Technician

Job Summary:Under the direct supervision of a Professional Nurse or other assigned professional staff member, the Psychiatric Social Health Technician-Behavioral Health performs functions related to assisting patients with daily living activities and participates as a member of a health care team in implementing appropriate therapeutic activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Observe and report patient's physical condition, mental state, and social behavior to the team leader or Nurse-in-charge.
- Participate in planning and implementing an orientation program for new patients, gathering information for intake, social histories, referrals, and related purposes.
- Contribute to the development of a therapeutic ward environment by participating in planning and implementing daily living activities for patients.
- Assist in planning and implementing therapeutic activities with groups of hospitalized psychiatric patients and encourage client involvement in various individual and group activities as part of planned treatment programs.
- Perform functions and activities of the basic Nurse's Aide in support of the above tasks and other related work, as assigned.
- Six (6) months of satisfactory experience assisting patients with daily living and therapeutic activities and performing other related functions in a hospital or a health care setting.
- Valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) within sixty (60) calendar days of appointment to the title.
