Position Overview

The Evening Operations Supervisor is tasked with leading and guiding club merchandising efforts, ensuring that products are adequately stocked and available for purchase throughout the establishment, while delivering an exceptional service experience to members. This role also involves overseeing and directing the activities of the merchandising department team members and acting as a key holder for the club.

The Evening Operations Supervisor is responsible for serving as the Manager on Duty (MOD) as designated. In this capacity, the Evening Operations Supervisor manages the entire Club, addressing any concerns raised to the MOD and escalating issues as necessary.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Collaborate with the Assistant Club Manager to build effective merchandising teams through selection, training, performance management, coaching, and, when necessary, disciplinary actions. Lead the merchandising team to oversee product display and signage processes. Participate in the onboarding of new team members. Communicate with management regarding staffing needs and team member performance. Ensure proper product display and signage, maintaining adequate stock levels throughout the store. Execute company directives related to merchandising, resets, and sales initiatives within designated timeframes, ensuring sales floor standards are upheld. Recommend merchandising adjustments to boost sales. Oversee the maintenance and operational condition of the facility and equipment. Serve as the designated forklift trainer for the club. Operate a forklift safely and efficiently, conducting inspections prior to use and adhering to established safety protocols. Ensure all team members comply with safety and sanitation guidelines. Validate safety checks and address any identified concerns promptly. Responsible for safety protocols related to steel and pallets. Open the cash office as required. Uphold all club policies and procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned, including working in other departments as necessary. Regular, predictable attendance is a fundamental aspect of this role.

Qualifications

Basic computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, Email) are required. A high school diploma, college degree, or experience in big box wholesale, retail, grocery, and/or management is preferred. Forklift operation certification is required. Previous experience in forklift operation and merchandising is preferred but not mandatory. Must be at least 18 years of age. Successful completion of required training and certification processes is necessary. Demonstrated leadership skills, including team supervision, training, and effective communication of results. Proven leadership capabilities, including managing cross-functional teams, training team members, and driving results. Ability to own and deliver on strategic initiatives and objectives. Open availability for shifts is required.

Working Conditions

The majority of the time is spent standing and moving continuously on hard surfaces. Frequent need to position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, as well as to bend, climb, crawl, kneel, push, pull, reach, move side to side, stoop, and climb ladders/step stools. Requires use of a pallet jack to maneuver pallets. Forklift operation is also required. Frequently requires lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May involve lifting and moving heavy or awkward items exceeding 30 pounds with assistance. Typically, the job is performed in a comfortable environment with moving machinery and/or loud equipment, necessitating clear communication. Occasional exposure to temperature extremes in freezer or cooler units may occur. There may also be occasional exposure to company-approved chemicals and cleaning agents.

In accordance with Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ's Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position starts at $56,250.00.
