Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the daily functions of the accounting and auditing department and its personnel.
- Guide, mentor, and evaluate the performance of the accounting and auditing teams, promoting a culture of collaboration and high achievement.
- Examine departmental metrics to uncover trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for enhancement.
- Establish, execute, and oversee quality assurance protocols for the accounting and auditing division, ensuring compliance with professional standards and best practices.
- Supervise the AICPA peer review process, including preparation, coordination, and execution of recommendations.
- Formulate and enforce accounting and auditing policies, procedures, and enhancements to improve controls, operational efficiency, and service quality.
- Deliver strategic financial insights and improvement suggestions to senior management and partners.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), GAAS (Generally Accepted Auditing Standards), and other pertinent professional regulations.
- Monitor and mitigate risks, stay informed of changes, and take charge of implementing new standards while providing team training on these updates.
- Act as the primary liaison for clients regarding accounting and auditing services, collaborating with other departments and partners as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting is mandatory.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is essential; additional certifications are advantageous.
- A minimum of 10-12 years of progressive experience in accounting and auditing, including 2-4 years in a leadership role within a public accounting environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of GAAP, auditing standards, and financial reporting obligations.
- Demonstrated experience in managing quality assurance processes and AICPA peer reviews.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Proven track record in leading and developing accounting and auditing teams.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in accounting/auditing software and Microsoft Office applications.
