Clinical Charge Nurse BSN Oncology Unit Leader

The Clinical Charge Nurse BSN Oncology Unit is a key role in providing high-quality patient care and leadership within the Oncology Unit. As a seasoned nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care according to professional nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities- Provide effective and safe clinical practice, demonstrating leadership through observation, feedback, and performance coaching.
- Resolve or facilitate resolution of patient and family concerns/complaints, serving as a secondary resource for escalation.
- Recognize and resolve safety issues and potential unsafe situations within approved policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Lead shift and post-event huddles, facilitating and leading effective interdisciplinary care transition rounds and planning of care for optimal utilization, care transitions, and safe disposition.
- Consistently demonstrate compliance and monitoring for department service standards, enhancing communication through purposeful hourly rounding, bedside shift report, and white board management.
- Effectively manage unit productivity through good planning, organization, and time management, optimizing resources to meet dynamic patient care needs in real-time.
- Identify and participate in activities to improve patient safety, patient throughput, reduce length of stay, and prevent readmission.
- Actively participate and assist in the selection, development, and retention of associates, serving as a coach and resource to peers, staff, and other healthcare team members, creating a healthy work environment.
- Demonstrate effective medication administration, delegation, and supervision of patient care activities within the healthcare setting.
- Contribute to the patient experience through positive patient satisfaction scores and HCAHPs scores for the department/medical center, as well as consistent performance of purposeful hourly rounding and bedside shift report.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
- Current State of Florida RN licensure or endorsement.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant clinical experience preferred.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintenance of other certification(s) as required by specific unit.
- National certification in relevant specialty preferred.
- Ability to speak/understand written and verbal instructions in the English language.
- Ability to work in often stressful environments with patients/families at various ages and levels of understanding.
- Ability to concentrate on multiple priority activities.
- Ability to respond appropriately to life-threatening situations.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Dependability, reliability, and flexibility.
- Highly developed verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
Physically agile, with frequent walking, standing, running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching. May occasionally include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance. May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting, and/or low to loud noise.
