Job Overview

Gateway New London Terminal is a leading terminal operator focused on the offshore wind sector. We specialize in the assembly, storage, and transportation of large turbines.

Position Summary:

The Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in guiding and directing team leaders and staff. This position is responsible for planning daily operational schedules and ensuring that team members deliver services efficiently and accurately, maintain proper inventory control, and respond promptly to customer inquiries. The supervisor also trains staff on company policies and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all operational aspects while fostering effective communication between management, supervisors, and production teams.
  • Identify training needs and ensure all personnel are equipped with the necessary technical skills and understanding of their roles and performance objectives.
  • Organize and allocate personnel to optimize team efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of employee performance, safety records, and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, sanitation, and security protocols.
  • Initiate maintenance requests for equipment and facility needs.
  • Collaborate with the Port Captain and Cargo Officer regarding loading and unloading operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of loading and unloading equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Participate in additional projects or tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in supervising staff across various cargo types, particularly breakbulk.
  • Knowledge of specialized rigging and cargo handling equipment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proven safety record.
  • Ability to train and develop new team members.
  • Capable of motivating and enhancing team morale.
  • Experience in warehouse operations and stevedoring.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and handling objects. Occasionally, the position may involve stooping, bending, kneeling, and lifting or moving items up to 35 lbs.
