Senior Facilities Manager

EchoStar is seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager - Facilities to join our Hughes Network Systems division. This role will be based at our headquarters in Germantown, MD.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement workplace procedures and policies to ensure continuous, uninterrupted service.
- Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, HAZMAT, and Health, Fire & Life Safety, in collaboration with internal Safety Teams.
- Oversee the activities of workers engaged in 24x7 operation and maintenance of facilities.
- Ensure certification of staff in all responsible areas.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities, grounds, and equipment to determine the need for service, repair, and equipment upgrades, ensuring employee safety.
- Inspect and maintain security fence perimeters, entry gates, and surveillance systems.
- Maintain accurate PMI documentation and collaborate closely with the Security team.
- Ensure the overall maintenance of the site's appearance to meet company standards.
- Manage and maintain grounds for snow removal, removal of weeds, care of lawns, and ornamental plants, as well as erosion prevention and control.
- Plan and administer the department budget.
- Recommend infrastructure improvements to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness of site operations.
- Purchase building and maintenance supplies, machinery, equipment, and furniture.
- Direct, monitor, and control contracted projects to ensure adherence to specifications and meet deadlines.
- May prepare construction specifications or plans, obtain advice from engineering personnel, assemble and analyze contract bids, and submit bids and recommendations to the management team.
- Manage outside vendor contracts, including janitorial and special cleaning requirements, annual maintenance agreements, fueling, painting, general contracts for pest/insect control.
- Represent the site at internal and external meetings and communicate information to management.
- Provide project reports and significant operational data to management on a timely basis.
- Manage multiple locations at our Corporate Campus. Hire, train, and supervise department personnel.
- Compile and review records of labor and material costs for operating buildings and specifications or plans.
- Approve invoices for payment.
- Complete purchase orders.
- 10% travel required.
- Bachelor's Degree or combination of education and work experience.
- 15 years' experience in building maintenance, including HVAC, Electrical, Fire Suppression, and detection systems, Generators, UPS's, general maintenance, and construction.
- 10 years' experience managing a large-scale diverse Office, Data Center, Lab, and Manufacturing facility.
- Must hold a Master Electrical or Master HVAC/R license.
- On-call 24x7.
- Ability to sit, stand, crawl, and climb ladders for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in all-weather environments, extreme heat, extreme cold, snow, rain, noise, hazards, and atmospheric conditions (fumes, odor, dust, mist, or poor ventilation) indoors and outdoors.
- Working conditions are normal for an office/manufacturing environment.
- Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to interact effectively with team members and provide guidance as needed.
- Basic computer skills/experience in databases, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to make sound decisions regarding budgets, personnel actions, and priority of work necessary to maintain function of 24x7 operations.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
