Research Scientist 2

Join the Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a Research Scientist 2. This exciting opportunity involves conducting experimental and theoretical research under the guidance of principal research scientist Phillip D. Keathley.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement novel ultrafast, near- to mid-infrared spectroscopic techniques for in-ovo sexing of chicken embryos.
  • Create a test station and experimental apparatus for early and accurate determination of chicken embryo sex using nonlinear spectroscopy and imaging.
  • Generate original ideas for research directions and methodologies and improve research methods and solutions.
  • Deliver internal reports and updates to project supervisors.
  • Oversee lab personnel and contribute to lab maintenance and upkeep.
  • Train students and postdocs in relevant laboratory equipment use.
  • Author/co-author results and present findings in peer-reviewed journals and other publications.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations at lab meetings, departmental seminars, and conferences.
  • Participate in determining the group's long-term strategy and financial planning/operations.
  • Review and critique reports and analyses of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
  • Provide mentoring and direction to graduate students, research staff, and visitors.
