Summary Statement

This recruitment aims to establish an eligibility list for future openings.

The role involves researching, acquiring, interpreting, and disseminating confidential investigative-intelligence data upon request to support investigative operations for various law enforcement agencies or criminal information networks. It is crucial to ensure that the information obtained is accurate and shared only with authorized personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct thorough research and interpretation of data from both automated and manual internal and external resources to assist in the collection of intelligence for criminal investigations.

2. Share acquired intelligence information in response to requests from various agencies to support criminal investigations.

3. Maintain the security of criminal records and intelligence information to comply with applicable federal and state laws.

4. Engage with various agencies to gather intelligence information or obtain referrals for research to fulfill requests.

5. Prioritize and manage requests for research assistance, determining the necessary type of support to ensure timely collection of intelligence.

6. Establish and maintain intelligence databases and files to ensure the accuracy and security of sensitive intelligence information.

7. Interpret computerized information and reports to assist requestors in understanding the data obtained.

8. Collaborate with intelligence analysts/officers at various agencies to exchange research information for investigative purposes.

9. Assess the authorization of requestors to receive intelligence information.

10. Initiate and interpret off-line searches to aid in intelligence collection for criminal investigations.

11. Provide assistance through telephone communications or refer calls to the appropriate personnel.

12. Stay updated on job-specific procedures by reviewing relevant publications and attending training sessions.

13. Facilitate connections among employees and agencies to share research sources and exchange intelligence information.

14. Train new employees and outside agency personnel in unit procedures and resources.

15. Prepare various written documents related to the work unit to ensure operational effectiveness.

16. Manage record numbers for intelligence reports and maintain accurate tracking of intelligence information.

17. File intelligence reports and documents to maintain organized records.

18. Attend meetings to share or gather information regarding work unit issues and procedures.

19. Review and suggest improvements to office policies and procedures to enhance unit services.

20. Conduct presentations or training programs for law enforcement personnel on intelligence collection and dissemination procedures.

21. Participate in multi-agency task force investigations to provide intelligence research assistance.

22. Engage in research projects to define problems, provide information, and assess program efficiency.

23. Review files and documents to ensure compliance with standards and policies.

24. Assist in the development and modification of intelligence databases and programs to meet user needs.

25. Encourage user participation in contributing intelligence information to databases.

26. Respond to call-out requests for unit services.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires two years of experience with a law enforcement or criminal justice agency in roles such as a police records clerk or dispatcher, or in investigative research. Two years of college education in criminal justice or a related field may substitute for one year of experience. One year of experience must involve a computer database system.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
May require travel as needed and may involve irregular hours, holidays, or weekends.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Office setting.

Progression to the next step requires an overall performance rating of at least "Standard" in the last 12 months.

Must successfully complete the examination process.
