Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Guidance, Human Services, Nursing, Psychology, Physical Education, Recreation, Child Psychology, the Arts, Social Work, Sociology, or Child Care, along with six months of experience working with school-age children.
- Associate's degree with three months of experience in a supervised childcare environment, or relevant credits towards an Associate's degree combined with nine months of experience with school-age children, including three months in a supervised setting.
- Experience engaging with project-based learning.
- Capability to establish clear boundaries and supervise school-age students effectively.
- Experience with children and families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Ability to support students with special educational or emotional needs.
- Position requires a strong level of physical capability, including frequent talking, seeing, hearing, walking, and swimming.
- Moderate levels of standing, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, bending, climbing, and kneeling are also expected.
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
- Facilitate small and large group activities.
- Supervise and engage with children.
- Enforce discipline in line with established policies.
- Maintain a conducive classroom environment, including the setup and upkeep of supplies.
- Adhere to program protocols to ensure the health and safety of all children.
- Collaborate effectively in team teaching.
- Foster positive relationships with families.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Research, design, and implement daily curriculum that supports social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth in alignment with district standards.
- Procure materials and supplies following district procedures.
- Provide and document nutritious snacks daily.
- Submit daily lesson plans to administration two weeks in advance.

- Orient new staff and substitutes as needed.
- Participate in weekly team meetings.
- Maintain regular communication with administration.
- Attend monthly meetings and complete at least 10 hours of professional development workshops.
- Engage in parent meetings and events.

The following responsibilities provide a general overview of the role during the summer months.
Pre-Camp Duties:
- Attend initial camp orientation and training sessions, assisting with camp setup.
- Introduce students to their groups.
- Explain daily schedules, clubs, and field trips during group meetings.
- Maintain an updated schedule of events.
- Review camp rules and expectations.
- Set standards for the upkeep of camp supplies and materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Supervise campers during meals and post-camp activities.
- Oversee campers during transportation.
- Ensure timely arrival to scheduled activities.
- Assist specialists in clubs and participate in group activities.
- Contribute to daily staff meetings for planning purposes.
- Address behavior management issues or seek assistance as needed.
- Plan and implement activities if a club is canceled.
- Full-year schedule (September - June).
- In accordance with the district's collective bargaining agreement.
- Up to 25 hours per week.
- Eligible for benefits.
- Director and Assistant Director of Community Education.
