Job Description

I. Overview | Key Objectives

The Lead Financial Strategist, within Dotdash Meredith's FP&A division, will collaborate closely with the Finance Department, including the Associate Director, Department Head, Managers, Analysts, and the India-based support team, as well as the corporate accounting group and operational teams such as software engineers, IT, and content creation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare monthly profit summaries, forecasts, budgets, variance analyses, and various financial reports in alignment with established financial and accounting principles and GAAP.
- Execute tasks necessary for the accurate closure of monthly accounts while adhering to deadlines.
- Develop financial analyses, models, and reports utilizing extensive data sets to deliver insightful information for leadership to assess the financial health of the organization.
- Advise management on the financial implications of operational decisions.
- Address finance and accounting inquiries in a fast-paced environment promptly.
- Coordinate consistently with internal partners regarding monthly expenditures, forecasting, and annual budget preparation.
- Oversee invoice processing, validation, and record maintenance for assigned areas.
- Conduct accounting functions such as journal entries, project accounting, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Utilize software tools including Oracle, Hyperion, Microstrategy, Excel, PowerPoint, and G Suite.
- Responsibilities may evolve over time to meet business needs as directed by management.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, effectively engaging with all management levels.

II. Essential Functions

Weight % | Accountabilities and Expected Results

- 40% Prepare financial summaries, forecasts, financial models, operating budgets, balance sheet reconciliations, and strategic plans, showcasing exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities for regular and ad hoc FP&A tasks.

- 25% Communicate financial outcomes to management through verbal discussions and analytical reports, providing finance and operational management with accurate financial reporting to inform on results and forecasts, predictive modeling, and scenario analysis.

- 15% Complete journal entries and other core accounting responsibilities, including the use of project accounting applications.

- 20% Conduct ad hoc analyses on categories, business performance, and issues; compare actuals against budgets and prior years; collaborate with Financial and Operational Business Managers on matters related to financial analyses, budgeting, and forecasting.

III. Qualifications | Requirements

Education:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Experience:
- 2 to 4 years of experience in a relevant field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Proficient in MS Excel, capable of organizing and analyzing large data sets, including Pivot Tables and VLookups.
- Familiarity with Gmail, Word, PowerPoint, with the ability to create compelling presentations for senior leadership.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to identify improvement opportunities and implement strategies.
- Highly collaborative, able to interact effectively with team members towards shared goals.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing business needs.
- Must embody Dotdash Meredith's core values.
