About the Role

At Hackensack Meridian Health, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and service. As a Customer Service Correspondence Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our patients receive timely and accurate communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Correspondence Management: Responsible for the distribution of all incoming mail, including paper and electronic lockbox returns, across the Hackensack Meridian Health network.
  • Mail Screening and Distribution: Screens mail for legal requests, subpoenas, and bankruptcies, and distributes accordingly, ensuring timely delivery to the appropriate parties.
  • Return Mail Processing: Updates return mail patient demographics in EPIC using electronic files provided by the statement vendor.
  • Customer Service Support: Logs onto the phone system to take messages for customer service representatives and provides patient call back support.
  • Payment Processing: Takes and applies patient payments via EPIC encrypted device or bank portal, documents all patient payment transactions and conversations in EPIC.
  • Medical Records and Account Management: Submits requests for medical records, reactivates accounts from history, and drops itemized bills and UBs upon request.
  • Cash Handling and Clerical Support: Prepares and submits incoming checks to the Cashier within 24 hours of receipt and performs various clerical functions, including faxing, scanning, and emailing documents.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), or GED equivalent programs.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a related field, with some business experience.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent telephone skills, and excellent computer skills, preferably including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
