Job Overview:

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive experience for patients and assisting medical personnel. The responsibilities include:

  • Answering phone calls in a timely and professional manner, as well as managing messages from the answering service. Properly directing calls, providing voicemail options, paging, or redirecting as necessary.
  • Welcoming patients and visitors, guiding them appropriately, and facilitating communication with staff members. This includes paging employees to meet visitors and directing them to suitable waiting areas.
  • Communicating financial obligations to patients and collecting copayments as needed.
  • Conducting registration processes for both new and returning patients.
  • Coordinating patient appointments according to established guidelines and finalizing schedules for the previous day.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding patient information.
  • Following infection control and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with confidentiality policies as per HIPAA regulations.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned.
