Position Overview:
We are currently in need of a Spanish Language Specialist.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep passion for the mission of Excellence Community Schools, an appreciation for diverse cultures, and a strong desire to work in an urban educational environment that fosters a love for learning.


Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, prepare, and deliver engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that promote active learning.

- Ensure lessons are rigorous, clear, measurable, and aligned with state educational standards.


- Create and utilize various assessment methods (e.g., tests, written assignments, and presentations) to continuously evaluate student progress toward established content and skill benchmarks.

- Maintain an organized classroom to promote a positive learning atmosphere.

- Ensure students achieve mastery of grade-level standards.

- Set and communicate high academic and personal expectations for all students.

- Incorporate direct instruction, discussions, projects, and collaborative work to engage students and maintain their focus.


- Collaborate with Educational Associates and other educational staff to create an effective classroom environment and address individual student needs.

- Adhere to school policies and procedures regarding student conduct and discipline.

- Develop clear evaluation criteria and share them with students prior to assignments.

- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

- Participate in grade-level and school-wide activities.

- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of experience as a Spanish educator is required.

- Preferred experience includes 2 to 5 years of teaching in an urban educational setting.

- Connecticut State Certification in Spanish or another language is required for grades K-8.

- A strong commitment to the mission of Excellence Community Schools is essential.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
