Job Overview

The Arlo Hotel DC is seeking a highly skilled Wine Connoisseur to manage its signature restaurant's beverage program. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive wine strategy that drives sales and enhances the overall guest experience.

Responsibilities

This role encompasses various aspects of wine service, including:
  • Wine List Management: Collaborate with the culinary team to create an exceptional wine list, featuring a curated selection of wines from around the world.
  • Wine Selection and Pairing: Offer expert advice to guests on wine choices based on their preferences, budget, and occasion, while collaborating with chefs to craft innovative wine pairings.
  • Wine Service: Provide exceptional wine service, engaging with guests during tastings and ensuring a seamless dining experience.
  • Wine Inventory and Training: Manage the wine cellar, conduct regular inventory checks, and educate staff on wines and other beverages through tastings and courses.


Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess a deep understanding of wine, as well as expertise in pricing, budgets, and cost controls. Proficiency in heavy lifting may also be required due to the physical demands of the job.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for wine, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary range of $55,000 - $65,000 per year, commensurate with experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
