Emergency Department Nurse Specialist: High-Volume Trauma Center

The Clinical Nurse is a vital member of the Emergency Department team at Albany Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center and regional referral center for acute care. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate nurse to join our team in this critical role.
CompensationWe offer a competitive salary range of $36.73 - $60.93 per hour, reflecting the expertise and dedication required for this position. Our comprehensive benefits package includes excellent health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as an employer-funded pension plan and paid leave.
About the RoleThis Clinical Nurse will assess, coordinate, and deliver high-quality patient care to patients of all ages, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The ideal candidate will have at least 1-3 years of experience in an Emergency Department, preferably in a large academic and trauma center setting. This individual will be responsible for implementing physician orders, administering medications, starting IVs, performing treatments, procedures, and special tests, while documenting treatment as required by company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations.
This Clinical Nurse will also:
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered.
- Apply sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
- Provide primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
- Direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- A Graduate degree from a professional academic nursing program.
- A current NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Obtains and maintains certification in BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC.
- A minimum of 1-3 years of previous clinical nursing experience in an Emergency Department, preferably in a large academic, Level 1 Trauma Center, and Comprehensive Stroke Center.
- The ability to improve job performance through continuing education.
- Possesses knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques and demonstrates the ability to apply in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement.
