Role Overview
This position will report directly to the Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Global Risk and Regulatory Affairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel and support to the Value Added Services (VAS) division in relation to Visa's broader Issuing Solutions, Acceptance Solutions, and Risk and Identity Solutions teams, addressing a variety of intricate regulatory and commercial issues.
- Collaborate with global colleagues to meet the daily legal requirements of internal clients.
- Oversee VAS offerings, which encompass issuer processing services, risk mitigation products, digital enablement SDKs, fraud prevention, loyalty programs, open banking, and dispute resolution.
- Navigate the complex regulatory landscape and risk management considerations pertinent to value-added services, working alongside experienced attorneys across various regions and practice areas.
- Engage and manage external legal counsel on diverse matters, scrutinizing legal analyses and translating advice into clear, actionable guidance for business teams.
- Understand Visa's strategic objectives, recognizing interconnections between various matters and proactively ensuring they receive appropriate attention for the benefit of Visa's overall legal risk management.
- Handle daily legal inquiries and lead all relevant legal activities.
- Educate business units on legal processes and policies.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships to ensure effective legal support delivery, coordinating with other Visa departments globally to align with business needs and policies.
- Contribute proactively to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Legal, Ethics & Compliance division.
Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates who can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. Ideal applicants will possess:
- 10+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 8+ years with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters/MBA/JD/MD).
- Admission to practice law in the United States and in good standing.
- Fluency in English.
- Strong academic credentials.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 12+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 8-10 years with an Advanced Degree.
- Experience in commercial law and regulations in a multi-jurisdictional context.
- Familiarity with U.S. credit, debit, and payment system laws, consumer reporting, fair lending laws, and third-party risk management.
- Understanding of in-house operations within a large technology organization.
- Desire to become an expert advisor in the payments industry.
Additional Information:
Work Hours: Varies based on departmental needs.
Travel Requirements: This role may require travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office environment, requiring the ability to sit and stand at a desk, communicate effectively, and operate standard office equipment.

Compensation:
The estimated salary range for this position is between $201,500.00 and $262,000.00 annually, which may include potential sales incentives. Salary may vary based on job-related factors including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position may also be eligible for bonuses and equity.
