GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Bilingual Spanish Instructional Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting educators and the program director in fostering a nurturing and secure atmosphere for children. This position involves actively participating in educational activities aimed at enhancing the overall quality of care and learning. The specialist must possess strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting. Responsibilities include observing and documenting children's interests and developmental progress, as well as sharing this information with parents and staff. The specialist is tasked with implementing age-appropriate activities tailored to the children's needs and interests under the guidance of the teaching staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Support the execution of curriculum activities and motivate children's involvement. Engage actively in classroom activities; ensure cleanliness and organization of materials. Maintain open communication with parents through informal discussions and progress updates. Promote self-sufficiency and hygiene through positive behavior modeling.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions for children from home to the educational environment.
  • Adhere to all center policies and state regulations.
  • Commit to a personal professional development plan for ongoing quality enhancement.
  • Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Participate in required training and professional development sessions.
  • Follow district protocols for reporting absences.
  • Complete the district's mandatory online training by the assigned deadline.
  • Meet physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1-2 years of professional experience in childcare and the ability to achieve a Step 5 on the Oregon Registry.
  • High energy and teamwork capability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of child development principles.
  • Must pass a thorough criminal background check through the Oregon Registry Online prior to the interview.
  • Willingness to engage in a Professional Development Plan with the Director, including ongoing training throughout the year.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year will align with the current negotiated contract.

EVALUATION:
Job performance will be assessed according to Board policy provisions.
