Role SummaryThe Sr. Service Engineer for High Voltage Battery will be responsible for ensuring the serviceability of our high-voltage battery design. This includes collaborating with stakeholders to define aftersales requirements, simplifying processes, parts, and tooling, and institutionalizing problem-solving in program pilot build phases.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement serviceability strategies for high-voltage batteries, ensuring efficient and effective repair and maintenance processes.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and address service concerns, including standard tool use, tool clearances, ergonomics, part reuse, mobile repair capability, lifetime cost of service analysis, logical part stacking, repeatability of repair, and diagnosability.
- Define service parts, process, tools, PPE, and training requirements for high-voltage batteries and serviceable sub-components, ensuring seamless integration with field service and remanufacturing operations.
- Support root cause investigation for prototypes and high-severity field failure modes, collaborating with reliability, hardware, software, manufacturing, and other engineering teams.
- Develop remanufacturing processes for component and system functional testing, ensuring high-quality and efficient results.
- Provide continuous improvement ideas and technical feedback to engineering design, reliability, quality, and service teams, prioritizing quality and safety.
- Embody a collaborative team spirit and organizational learning, training, coaching, and developing colleagues in all directions, fostering a culture of design for serviceability throughout the company.
- BS in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
- Three years of HV system experience in automotive or comparable industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of foundational engineering topics, including mechanics, physics, metallurgy, manufacturing methods, electronics, software, and control systems.
- Demonstrated ability to foresee physical issues with virtual products in development.
- Proven success championing feature or attribute requirements in a complex, design-focused environment.
- Established analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with an intuition for overcoming unusual and complex challenges.
- Experience with C++, Python, SQL, Linux, or similar technologies at a basic/comprehension level, with synthesis-level skills an advantage.
- Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication skills, ensuring effective issue definition and resolution with cross-functional teams in a technology-focused environment.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to consider the big picture at critical moments.
- Able to travel approximately 10% of the time.
