Role Summary:

We're looking for a Sr. Service Engineer to lead our High Voltage Battery serviceability efforts. This role will be responsible for ensuring the design and service launch readiness of our HV Batteries. You'll collaborate with stakeholders to define aftersales requirements, simplify processes, parts, and tooling, and institutionalize problem-solving in program pilot build phases.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement serviceability strategies for HV Batteries, ensuring design and service launch readiness.
  • Identify and report service concerns during virtual development phases, and track standard tool use, tool clearances, ergonomics, part reuse, mobile repair capability, lifetime cost of service analysis, logical part stacking, repeatability of repair, and diagnosability.
  • Define service parts, process, tools, PPE, and training requirements for HV Batteries and serviceable sub-components through field service and remanufacturing operations.
  • Support root cause investigation with cross-functional engineering teams for prototypes and high-severity field failure modes.
  • Conceive remanufacturing processes for component and system functional testing.
  • Provide continuous improvement ideas and technical feedback to engineering design, reliability, quality, and service teams, ensuring quality and safety.
  • Embody a collaborative team spirit and organizational learning, training, coaching, and developing colleagues in all directions, and developing a culture of design for serviceability throughout the company.

Qualifications:

  • BS in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Three years of HV system experience in automotive or comparable industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of foundational engineering topics, such as mechanics, physics, metallurgy, manufacturing methods, electronics, software, and control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to foresee physical issues with virtual products in development.
  • Proven success championing feature or attribute requirements in a complex, design-focused environment.
  • Established analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with an intuition for overcoming challenges that are unusual and complex.
  • Experience with C++, Python, SQL, Linux, or similar technologies at a basic/comprehension level is required, and at a level of synthesis is an advantage.
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication skills to effectively define and resolve issues with cross-functional teams in a technology-focused environment.
  • Detail-oriented, with the inclination to stop and consider the big picture at critical moments.
  • Able to travel approximately 10% of the time.

Pay Disclosure:

Salary Range for California-Based Applicants: $107k - $134k (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
