Position Summary
Birdon America, Inc. is in search of a Class 1 Electrician to enhance our skilled workforce at our shipyard. This role presents an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in the construction of a new Coast Guard vessel.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify color codes on Multi-Conductor Cables.
- Connect Single Phase and Three Phase Motors effectively.
- Handle connections for Single and Three Phase Transformers.
- Demonstrate knowledge of ABT and MBT operations.
- Work with AC Power Distribution up to 1000 Volts.
- Understand parallel circuitry in both AC and DC systems.
- Connect and check phase rotation of Generators.
- Adjust rotation on three-phase motors as needed.
- Determine appropriate sizes for Motor Starters (NEMA Ratings).
- Monitor amp draw on various equipment.
- Troubleshoot wiring and electrical equipment issues.
- Diagnose MSLC and DSLC circuits.
- Terminate and comprehend PLC Circuits and Motor controllers.
- Perform tasks typically assigned to Class 2 and Class 3 Electricians.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Marine Electrician.
- Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot effectively.
- Familiarity with basic ABS Rules and CFRs.
- Proficient in Megger testing of cables.
- Skilled in using a Volt-Ohm Meter.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, and enter confined spaces regularly.
