Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician to join our team at Erica Lane Enterprises, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting data, preparing scopes of work, and analyzing design documents to determine project scope and content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collects data and prepares scopes of work, designs, specifications, requests for proposal, and joint scoping agreements.
  • Analyzes design documents to determine the scope and content of projects at various stages.
  • Assists with the development of independent government cost estimates using computer-aided estimating software.
  • Prepares or marks-up layouts and drawings to be used by Contractors in the bidding process.
  • Reviews preexisting projects and designs for warranties, overlap, or redundancies.
  • Works in coordination with the 88th RD's Environmental Division to communicate site environmental hazards and compliance requirements to JOC Contractors.
  • Completes peer-review scopes and cost estimates for accuracy and completeness.

Requirements:

  • Must have an Associate degree in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, construction management, or a related field -OR- a minimum of five years of relevant experience in construction, engineering, or engineering technology.
  • Must possess ability to develop/write technical specifications such as scopes of work for construction projects.
  • Must possess an inquisitive mind and be proficient at conducting research and comprehending documents such as construction drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Working experience with 4-Clicks estimate software to prepare project documentation and FEMS (IBM Maximo) to track projects is highly desired.
  • Prior Federal government experience is preferred.
  • Must be a U.S citizen.
  • Must pass a Background Check and Pre-employment Drug Screening.
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from the worksite.
  • Must have a broad knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must have ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Must have experience managing service provider/client relationships.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task, manage time effectively, and prioritize work.
  • Must be highly organized and have strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to follow through and monitor own work to ensure quality.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to identify, research, analyze, and resolve discrepancies and data errors; understand and communicate impact to others.
  • Must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language to effectively carry out all contract requirements with team members and customers.
  • Must be a self-starter – Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position requires typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility to include but not limited to walking, standing, bending, reaching, turning, kneeling, or crouching to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required. Must be able to lift, move, and transport items occasionally up to 10 pounds.

Work is generally conducted in an inside environment, but may also involve some outside work, depending on the task. The inside environment may be in an office or cubicle with close quarters, with low to moderate noise, and bright or dim lighting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Outside work may include various environmental conditions including hot and cold climates. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
