Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Renown Health. As a Clinical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality laboratory services to our patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood specimens from patients in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and process samples for testing, ensuring accurate tracking and delivery to the appropriate departments.
  • Interact with reference labs to prepare shipments and communicate with nursing personnel to expedite patient care.
  • Use the laboratory information system to determine test status and keep nursing personnel informed.
  • Perform other support tasks, including telephone answering, non-blood specimen collections, special procedures, customer support, and clerical duties.
  • May perform 12-lead EKGs (only).
Requirements
  • Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Recent general laboratory experience or phlebotomy experience is preferred.
  • Requires current State of Nevada license for Laboratory Assistant or an application must be submitted during the six-month interim/training period.
  • Valid State of Nevada or California driver's license and ability to pass Renown Health's Department of Motor Vehicle Report criteria.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to pass Board of Registry Examination for Phlebotomy Technician from the following agencies: American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Certification Agency for Healthcare Professionals (ACA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Healthcare Association (NHA), National Phlebotomy Association (NPA).
  • Completion of EKG monitor class within 60 days of hire (only).
