Job Summary

Mary McDowell Friends School is seeking a highly qualified Middle School Head Spanish Teacher to join our faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our Spanish department and teaching Spanish language and culture to our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Spanish language and culture curriculum for middle school students.
  • Lead and manage the Spanish department, including planning and coordinating curriculum, assessments, and instructional strategies.
  • Teach Spanish language and culture classes to middle school students, using a variety of instructional methods and technologies.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in language instruction and education.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide initiatives and programs.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience, preferably in a middle school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Spanish language and culture, as well as instructional methods and technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to equity and justice, including knowledge and skills related to cultural competencies.
