Job Summary

Maimonides Medical Center is seeking an experienced and skilled Chief Social Worker to lead our Social Work department. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and supervision to our Social Work staff, as well as providing direct services to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical supervision and training to Social Work staff to ensure high-quality patient care and adherence to standards.
  • Oversee the administrative functions of the Social Work department, including utilization management and inpatient social work services.
  • Provide direct treatment services to patients, including assessment, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans that meet the needs of patients and their families.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise Social Work staff, including conducting performance evaluations and recommending promotions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies and organizations to ensure access to resources and services for patients and their families.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in social work and healthcare, and apply this knowledge to improve patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work.
  • Certified as a Certified Social Worker (CSW) for Social Work roles.
  • Minimum of 8 years post-Master's degree in a psychiatric setting with emphasis on the serious and persistent mentally ill.
  • Minimum of 5 years as a clinical supervisor.
  • Minimum of 5 years as an administrative supervisor.
  • Knowledge of behavioral and/or psychodynamic approaches to treatment and assessment.
  • Knowledge of utilization management and working with managed care companies.
  • Psychodiagnostic assessment and diagnostic formulation skills.
  • Treatment skills in individual, group, family, and crisis intervention services.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Salary range: $90,000 - $109,000 based on experience.
