Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team at Soliant. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing personalized instruction and support to students with special needs, helping them achieve their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Create and implement tailored IEPs for each student, taking into account their unique needs and abilities.
  • Provide Direct Instruction and Support: Deliver instruction and support in various educational settings, including inclusive classrooms and resource rooms.
  • Adapt Teaching Methods and Materials: Modify teaching methods and materials to accommodate students' diverse learning needs and disabilities.
  • Assess and Track Student Progress: Regularly assess and track student progress, making necessary adjustments to instructional strategies.
  • Collaborate with Colleagues: Work closely with general education teachers, school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals to develop and implement effective educational plans.
  • Communicate with Parents and Guardians: Regularly communicate with parents and guardians about student progress and IEP goals.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, IEPs, and other required documentation.
  • Participate in Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about current best practices in special education.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Certification: Valid Missouri teaching certificate in Special Education (K-12).
  • Experience: Minimum 1+ years of experience in special education, preferably in developing and implementing IEPs.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.
Licensure and Certification Requirements
  • Missouri Initial Professional Certificate (IPC) or Continuous Professional Certificate (CPC) in Special Education.
  • Certification in Mild/Moderate Cross-Categorical Disabilities (K-12) or Severe Developmental Disabilities (K-12).
  • Any additional certifications required by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience with Assistive Technology and Adaptive Equipment: Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment to support students with special needs.
  • Knowledge of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Positive Behavioral Supports: Understanding of BIPs and positive behavioral supports to promote student behavior and academic success.
  • Training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or Other Specialized Instructional Techniques: Training in ABA or other specialized instructional techniques to support students with special needs.
