Position Overview:

The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in a regulated setting, ensuring the procurement of essential materials for the production and distribution of healthcare products. This position involves cultivating beneficial partnerships, negotiating contracts that align with the company's interests, assessing supplier reliability, and sourcing new supply channels to support manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate sourcing strategies and negotiate contracts for all goods and services within designated functional areas, while managing ongoing supplier relationships and ensuring adherence to established policies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and prepare specifications, requests for information (RFIs), requests for proposals (RFPs), requests for quotations (RFQs), bid analyses, contracts, and supply agreements.
  • Oversee supplier relationships and address any discrepancies or issues related to contract execution.
  • Conduct spend analysis and identify opportunities for cost savings and sourcing improvements.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts for various operational centers.
  • Manage special projects as they arise.
  • Assist in entering purchase orders in the ERP system and provide backup support to purchasing staff.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably SAP) and experience with e-Procurement tools are highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience in contract management and data analysis is essential.
  • Familiarity with sourcing initiatives and compliance with procurement procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional customer service and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated project management skills through previous project involvement.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; an MBA or MS degree is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant purchasing experience is necessary.
  • Certifications such as CPM or CPSM are strongly preferred.

Work Environment:

This role is primarily office-based, involving regular use of office equipment. The position requires prolonged periods of sitting, frequent hand movements, and occasional light lifting. Travel may be required for site visits.
