The Position

As a Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for managing project purchasing activities, including tendering, contract preparation, and negotiation. You will serve as a communication link between Investment, Engineering & Sourcing (IES) and investment projects stakeholders.

You will be responsible for sourcing, executing tendering processes, bid clarification and evaluation, terms and conditions, and contract preparation and negotiations. You will also operate the department in compliance with approved SOPs and company policies and procedures.

You will manage suppliers to achieve planned outcomes based on business needs and drive ongoing improvement in supplier performance. You will ensure balance between business and project objectives in regards to the triple bottom line, risk assessment, and deliveries in a complex setting.

You will utilize knowledge of suppliers' relative positioning and market trends and activities to build competitive advantage into purchasing practices. You will provide supplier and contract data to Category Managers to fulfill IES's ambition on high-quality data on the IES Supplier List.

You will oversee local supplier onboarding, contract management, coverage, and compliance. You will be responsible for analyzing and developing business opportunities, procurement strategies, and plans for procurement activities and obtaining buy-in from relevant stakeholders on all levels within the company.

You will identify, pursue, and maximize opportunities for realizing cost savings without sacrificing quality, service, and reliability expected of our suppliers. You will develop and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships.

You will support investment projects and Line of Business with pros and cons in relation to procurement alternatives. You will support the Supplier Diversity program and promote the inclusion of diverse suppliers in all sourcing initiatives.

You will ensure that non-financial objectives are also considered, such as Circular for Zero and Responsible Sourcing. You will interface with IES in Denmark to ensure optimal use of procurement systems and US involvement in global sourcing projects and related efforts.

You will consider new tools, theory, and methodology for optimizing worldwide processes, sourcing, and/or supplier relationships. You will contribute to the development of the IES Supplier base. You will generally support department development activities and colleagues by sharing best practices.

You will follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties. Other accountabilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in economics, engineering, business, finance, procurement, accounting, purchasing, or a similar field from an accredited university required
  • Minimum of seven years progressively responsible experience in sourcing/procurement or project management in capital investment projects required
  • Procurement management responsibilities from positions in North America and internationally preferred
  • Experience from the pharmaceutical industry or other regulated industries preferred
  • Proven knowledge of strategic good procurement/engineering practices and their application to the purchase of equipment and services preferred
  • Experience with development of procurement tools and templates and ability to develop strategies within technical procurement preferred
  • Strong negotiation skills and contracting skills preferred
  • Experience in supporting a team towards specific goals and defining new objectives for constant improvement of business procedures preferred
  • Able to challenge specific projects and develop alternative solutions preferred
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships and possess excellent people skills as well as a profound understanding of quality, time, and stakeholder management preferred
  • Solid verbal, written communication, and presentation skills required
  • Solid analytical skills and a significant practical experience in analyzing complex numbers and issues preferred
  • Solid process improvement and problem-solving skills preferred
  • Ability to develop and manage action plans to achieve targets required
