Job Summary

Novo Nordisk is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to lead and undertake procurement in several major investment projects. As a key member of the Investment, Engineering & Sourcing (IES) team, you will be responsible for ensuring the acquisition of high-quality goods and services at the best possible prices by negotiating and monitoring contracts and relationships with selected suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage procurement activities in several major projects, including supplier selection, tendering processes, bid clarification and evaluation, terms and conditions, and contract preparation and negotiations.
  • Establish, direct, and lead cross-functional teams in various sourcing activities to identify, select, negotiate, establish, and source preferred supplier contracts, agreements, leases, supplies, and services.
  • Support and coordinate with Project Managers and technical specialists to ensure the most feasible supplier contracts and successful project execution.
  • Ensure and safeguard that all sourcing and supplier-related activities are conducted in full compliance with our standards and regulations.
  • Develop strategies for procurement within Investment Projects.
  • Drive coordination when crisis management is needed to mitigate risks towards the Line of Business.
  • Act as a liaison between the Line of Business, internal stakeholders, and suppliers to ensure business objectives are met.
  • Direct partnering with the Line of Business to demonstrate how sourcing and procurement can support overall business strategies.
  • Understand broad organizational perspectives and deliver messages and presentations to various stakeholders to gain consensus for strategic initiatives and ideas.
  • Support IES' internationalization process, including building up capacity and knowledge with local staff on how to undertake professional procurement.
  • Responsible for analyzing and developing business opportunities, procurement strategies, and plans for procurement activities that must obtain buy-in from relevant stakeholders at all levels within the company.
  • Continuously drive identification and realization of maximum potential savings and other benefits.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of our department's activities, tools, systems, and processes.
  • Seek out, build, and maintain trusting and collaborative relationships and alliances with others inside and outside the organization in ways that accomplish key business objectives.
  • Ensure that non-financial objectives are also considered, such as Circular for Zero and Responsible Sourcing.
  • Support the Supplier Diversity program and promote the inclusion of diverse suppliers in all sourcing initiatives.
  • Partner with other Procurement teams to establish company-wide procurement systems, tools, processes, policies, and procedures to support and lead to informed, fact-based sourcing decisions.
  • Consider new tools, theory, and methodology for optimizing worldwide processes, sourcing, and/or supplier relationships.
  • Contribute to the development of the IES Supplier base.
  • Support department development activities and colleagues by sharing best practices.
  • Support the motivation in the department with a positive, dynamic, innovative, and cooperative mindset.
  • Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Engineering, Business, Finance, Procurement, Accounting, Purchasing, or similar field from an accredited university required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of substantial work experience as responsible for procurement or project management in large capital investment projects required (pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred).
  • Procurement management responsibilities from several positions in North America and internationally preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to act as project lead in the development and implementation of projects, processes, and programs preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of strategic good procurement/engineering practices and their application to the purchase of equipment and services required.
  • Experience with development of procurement tools and templates and ability to develop strategies within technical procurement preferred.
  • Extensive successful track record and documented skills in overcoming various unforeseen and difficulties in complex projects preferred.
  • Experience in driving teams towards specific goals and defining new objectives for constant improvement of business procedures preferred.
  • Able to act as consultant for internal groups and management and use the right personal approach in order to handle suppliers successfully preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills required.
  • Ability to develop strategic sourcing advice and sourcing plans based on supply and demand dynamics combined with business requirements required.
  • Able to challenge specific projects and develop alternative solutions required.
  • Extensive analytical skills and a significant practical experience in analyzing complex numbers and issues preferred.
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships is vital to this role, and the ideal candidate possesses excellent people skills as well as a profound understanding of quality, time, and stakeholder management preferred.
  • Solid project management skills, including ability to plan projects, drive problem-solving, develop business plans, and manage a project team preferred.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize activities to ensure optimal use of resources in the department required.
  • Ability to develop and manage action plans to achieve targets and handle multiple tasks simultaneously required.
