Job Title: Divisional Creative Arts Leader

At The Salvation Army, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to serve as our Divisional Creative Arts Leader. This role will play a vital part in developing and implementing our music and creative arts programs across the Greater New York Division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and oversee dance programs at corps within the division, working closely with the Divisional Music & Creative Arts Director to create engaging and impactful experiences.
  • Evaluate and document the strengths and weaknesses of arts programs in each corps, identifying areas for improvement and developing targeted teaching plans to enhance participant skills.
  • Collaborate with the Music & Creative Arts Department to create a teaching schedule that meets the diverse needs of corps within the division.
  • Provide dance resources and materials to corps, ensuring that employees and local arts leaders have the necessary tools to deliver high-quality programs.
  • Develop leaders within the corps by teaching them how to lead and rehearse arts groups, organize programs, teach individual lessons, and mentor participants.
  • Help secure local volunteers to enhance the musical ministry and program of the corps in the division.
  • Promote and plan arts events at the corps level, working with local leaders to plan, advertise, and implement events.
  • Assist with divisional arts groups, including the Divisional Dance Team and Railton Dance, as assigned by the Divisional Music & Creative Arts Director.
  • Maintain the divisional prop and costume inventories, managing equipment storage, maintenance, and lending equipment and supplies to corps.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in the field of arts or relevant experience leading creative arts programs in The Salvation Army, with a focus on drama, dance, and/or timbrels.
  • Active uniformed Salvationist in good standing, willing to soldier at a corps in the Greater New York Division, approved by the Program Secretary.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel around the Greater New York Division.
  • Ability to work independently and possess good organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.

The Divisional Creative Arts Leader will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with various stakeholders to develop and implement creative arts programs. The ideal candidate will be able to work well under pressure, think creatively, and demonstrate a passion for arts and worship.

The Salvation Army is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from diverse candidates. We offer a competitive salary range of $58,500 to $62,000 per year, depending on experience.
