Divisional Creative Arts Leader

As a key member of The Salvation Army Eastern Territory's music and arts team, the Divisional Creative Arts Leader will play a vital role in developing and implementing arts programs across the Greater New York Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and oversee dance programs at corps within the division, working closely with the Divisional Music and Creative Arts Director to ensure alignment with territorial goals.
  • Evaluate and document the strengths and weaknesses of arts programs in each corps, identifying areas for improvement and developing targeted strategies to enhance participant skills and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Music and Creative Arts Department to create a teaching schedule that meets the programming needs of various corps within the division.
  • Provide corps with dance resources, materials, and equipment to support arts programming, ensuring that employees and local arts leaders have the necessary tools to deliver high-quality programs.
  • Develop and mentor local leaders to lead and rehearse arts groups, organize arts programs, teach individual lessons and group classes, and prepare for performances.
  • Secure local volunteers to support the musical ministry and program of the corps, promoting arts events and activities within the division.
  • Assist with the Music and Creative Arts Camp, Junior and Senior Conservatories, Star Search, TAM Conservatory, and other divisional events as assigned.
  • Support the maintenance of divisional prop and costume inventories, managing equipment storage, maintenance, and lending equipment and supplies to corps.
  • Work to establish a vibrant divisional arts ministry that fosters the spiritual and artistic growth of participants within music programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Divisional Music and Creative Arts Director.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in the arts or relevant experience leading creative arts programs in The Salvation Army, with a focus on drama, dance, and/or timbrels.
  • Active uniformed Salvationist in good standing, willing to soldier at a corps in the Greater New York Division, approved by the Program Secretary.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel within the division.
  • Ability to work independently and possess good organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
