Job DescriptionTitle:

Manager of Design Engineering - Engineering - NY Office

Reports to:

Senior Director, Manufacturing Excellence - Engineering - BKK Office

Overview:

As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive project management, developing and aiding in the engineering of products based on timeline, and serving as the owner of vendor communication throughout the engineering process. You will help troubleshoot engineering challenges from design inception, attend DFM and CTM meetings, and follow and document all ECN projects from start to completion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Partner with the Senior Director of Design Engineering on new product efforts, focusing on engineering, manufacturing, and design aesthetic needs. Serve as the primary contact with external vendors during engineering collaboration.
  2. Work closely with NY-based design teams early in the development process to ensure engineering needs are met.
  3. Work daily with the BKK Engineering Team to promote inter-office cohesion.
  4. Own Pre-DFM Meetings for both Men's and Women's businesses.
  5. Own ECN projects, including communication with vendors, inspecting models and assembly methods, coming up with solutions or alternatives to correct known issues, obtaining final updated vendor samples that pass DY QC, and communicating with the repair team when solutions are implemented.
  6. Run bi-weekly ECN meetings, updating the team on the status of projects, and ensuring they are completed in a timely manner.
  7. Execute and maintain all product engineering-specific documentation as needed, including project kits, engineering reference documents, and supplemental documents. Maintain systems as required (PLM, Oracle).
  8. Execute technologically driven solutions to attain fundamental product improvements by improving product manufacturability, reducing manufacturing cost, increasing manufacturing capacity, or improving product quality.
  9. Work closely with Product Development and Production Teams to evaluate and determine best practices for producing David Yurman Jewelry.
  10. Coordinate with the Costing Team to execute and advise on estimated pricing for new design concepts and projects in work.
  11. Monitor engineering issues and problem-solve throughout the manufacturing process.
  12. Support additional manufacturing and engineering-related initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
  1. Education: Four-year BA or BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with a background in jewelry design preferred.
  2. 2-3 years' Project Management experience with the Jewelry industry or manufacturing engineering experience required.
  3. Excellent prioritization and time management skills required.
  4. Demonstrated experience in new product development and/or manufacturing process improvement.
  5. Ability to analyze complex engineering problems.
  6. Knowledge of modern jewelry manufacturing techniques, precious metal metallurgy, and/or investment casting.
  7. Proven ability to work within a minimal supervision, fast-paced environment.
  8. Strong communication (English written and verbal) & interpersonal skills.
  9. Strong problem-solving skills.
  10. Proficient Microsoft Office computer skills (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  11. Working knowledge of InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop a plus.
  12. Practical CAD knowledge, specifically Rhino software.
  13. Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) & Oracle software.
  14. This position is based in NYC.

Four-year BA or BS degree in Mechanical Engineering

Working mode:

Hybrid - 4 days in office, up to 5 days per week

Estimated Salary Range:

$110,000 - $120,000 / year

Base pay is one component of David Yurman's total compensation package, which may also include the following for eligible employees: access to healthcare benefits, 401(k) plan, bonus, employee discounts, Summer Fridays (corporate roles), generous paid time off, sick time, and more.
