Overview

Bergmann, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is seeking a talented Civil/Site Design Engineer to join our team in the New York, NY office. Our team of Civil/Site professionals values collaboration and partnership, working closely with clients to bring their vision to life.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering calculations and create estimates to ensure project feasibility and budget adherence.
  • Develop drawings by modifying or replicating prior projects, applying changes and corrections from redlined drawings, and/or creating drawings from sketches of others or from own design.
  • Ensure designs meet company and client production and design standards, adhering to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Interpret and understand drawings from multiple disciplines for specific projects and respond to requests for information regarding same.
  • Conduct field inspections and surveys, investigate variables, obtain measurements, photographs, videos, and take notes; write reports documenting same.
  • Research and apply code provisions to design, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Work with senior engineers to create project designs, collaborating on innovative solutions and best practices.
  • Create models, including 3D models, to visualize and communicate project designs effectively.
  • Research design options and document findings for project engineer/manager, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using own judgment to make adaptations and modifications to existing designs.
  • Assist Project Engineers and leaders as needed in the creation of proposals, client information, and designs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 0-2 years of experience required.
  • EIT candidates preferred.
  • Interest in Civil/Site Engineering projects; prior experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong CAD skills, including AutoCAD, HydroCAD, and WaterCAD.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Civil3D.
  • Land Development project experience.
