Regional Financial Leadership

Granite Construction is seeking a Strategic Finance Manager to drive regional growth and financial excellence.

About the Role

This critical position oversees all aspects of accounting and finance for assigned regions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Company policies, GAAP, and SOX. Key accountabilities include:

  • Financial Close Process Oversight: Supervising month-end financial close process, including review of invoices, payroll, equipment profitability, and account reconciliations.
  • Shared Services Management: Providing oversight of region-deployed shared services and coordinating process improvement initiatives with SSC and Region Controller.
  • Contract Management: Managing contracts, insurance certificates, payment and performance bonds, and escrow accounts to ensure compliance with Company policy and legal requirements.
  • Leadership and Development: Supervising Office Managers and Accounting Staff, including hiring, job evaluations, training, and development.
  • Financial Analysis and Support: Providing financial and analytical support to Region Controller, including consolidation of financial reports and financial analysis.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Preparing and managing overhead budgets and forecasts under the guidance of the Region Controller.
  • Compliance and Audit Support: Assisting in internal audits and self-audits to ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures, including SOX requirements.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of practical work experience, including 1+ years of management/supervisory experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Progressive experience in business and accounting-related functions, preferably in heavy-civil construction and construction materials industry; Enterprise system experience (JD Edwards/Oracle e1 experience a plus).
  • Personal Qualities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to provide creative solutions to real-time challenges; Strong management and interpersonal skills, with ability to manage and prioritize resources, people, and projects.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $82,539 - $123,809, commensurate with relevant experience, skills, location, and education. A comprehensive benefits package includes paid holidays, sick leave, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, flexible spending plans, and more.
