Our esteemed government client is in search of a Cybersecurity Specialist with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join their team on a long-term engagement.

Note: Candidates must possess solid experience of 5+ years in the United States, with a strong emphasis on firewalls and at least 2 years in a large-scale enterprise environment. Candidates must already reside in the Harrisburg area. The position is primarily remote, but candidates will need to be onsite for the interview, on the first day, and as requested by management.

This role is mostly remote; however, the selected individual will be required to collect client-issued equipment and complete badge processing on the first day, as well as anytime requested by the client. Remote work policies are subject to change.

The interview process includes a virtual session via Teams, requiring video participation, followed by an in-person interview in Harrisburg, PA.

Our client is looking for a local Cybersecurity Specialist with expertise in firewalls, possessing a minimum of 5 years of experience, including at least 2 years in a large-scale enterprise Windows environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving capabilities. Adapt swiftly to changing circumstances.

- Exhibit technical proficiency and experience with Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems, enterprise-level firewalls, network security, network traffic analysis, incident response, vulnerability assessment, packet analysis, and systems hardening.

- Possess comprehensive knowledge of layer 2 switching and layer 3 routing protocols, encryption protocols, and communication protocols. Examples include, but are not limited to: TLS/SSL, IPsec, SSH, PGP, VLAN, LLDP, LACP, ARP, 802.1x, DNS, AES, etc.

- Assist in detecting, identifying, monitoring, investigating, and analyzing network intrusions. Collect intrusion artifacts, indicators of compromise, and correlate artifacts across systems to facilitate mitigation of potential incidents.

- Analyze network alerts from various sources within the enterprise. Determine the alert trigger, assess the severity, and prioritize responses accordingly. Document incidents from initial detection to final resolution.

- Participate in the containment and neutralization of cyber threats based on intelligence and indicators of compromise. Assess damage to services, systems, networks, data, and other relevant assets. Contribute to the restoration and reconstitution of systems and services, making recommendations to prevent future incidents.

- Manage, monitor, and analyze various security technologies, including defensive and offensive security solutions on both perimeter and internal networks, such as firewalls and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).

- Utilize data from Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and other logging solutions to conduct analysis, identify cyber trends, disseminate relevant findings, and recommend appropriate security controls.

- Engage in the design and implementation of security controls. Grant and revoke access to restricted resources, ensuring that end-users are authorized to access requested resources, and participate in periodic system audits and cleanup initiatives.

- Assist leadership in planning and executing cybersecurity infrastructure or technology-related projects, participate in equipment installation, cabling, and ongoing maintenance of security infrastructure assets as needed.

- Conduct research and evaluate security technologies/services to drive process improvements, integrate automation, enhance efficiency, strengthen service delivery, and improve overall security posture.

- Maintain an accurate and comprehensive knowledge base. Create and revise documentation, procedures, flowcharts, diagrams, etc.

- Leverage incident tracking and ticketing systems to receive tasks from other units, delegate tasks, prioritize daily responsibilities, document actions taken, and record final resolutions for completed tasks.

- Provide on-call and/or emergency support, including after-hours assistance as needed.

- Adhere to established service management processes and procedures.

- Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Professional cybersecurity experience in large-scale Windows environments - minimum of 5 years.

- Understanding of current threats and trends in information security.

- Strong oral and written communication skills.

- Excellent interpersonal skills, including listening, presenting, and negotiating.

- Must successfully pass the required Pennsylvania State Police background check (no felony offenses).

- Ability to work remotely.
