Northwell Health is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Perform skilled and semiskilled work in several crafts, including carpentry, electrical, and plumbing.
- Repair furniture, office equipment, door closers, hinges, faucets, drains, doors, and other equipment in the maintenance shop and on location.
- Lay out and install new shelves, soap dishes, paper towel holders, coat hooks, cork strips, and other fixtures.
- Construct or reconstruct specific pieces of equipment, stands, and attachments; anchor objects to masonry, walls, and other surfaces.
- Demolish walls, ceilings, and clean up areas as needed; perform a large variety of small or occasional 'handyman' jobs.
- Observe, initiate, and perform constructions and repairs to preserve and avoid loss of property.
- Coordinate and cooperate with other trades to increase efficiency and avoid duplication of effort.
- Assist the Grounds Shop with salting, sanding, and removal of snow.
- Assist the maintenance shop in creating procedures for well-organized and expedient responses to various emergencies.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations and support the leadership in resolution process.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-3 years of technical experience required.
- Painting experience preferred.
- Valid NY State Driver's License preferred.
- Commercial experience preferred.
