Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Specialist to join our team at GPAC. As a Quality Control Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the integrity and quality of our metal fabrication processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and Ensure Quality: Perform daily quality inspections of welded steel products and document findings to ensure they meet both internal specifications and industry codes.
  • Oversee Fabrication Process: Oversee and ensure adherence to AWS, ASTM, AISC, and other relevant standards during the fabrication process.
  • Manage Inspections: Manage dimensional, welding, and material inspections across various production stages.
  • Coordinate with Teams: Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure specifications and quality standards are met.
  • Support Manufacturing Flow: Support manufacturing flow and logistics, including material receiving and verification.
  • Maintain Welder Logs: Assist in maintaining Welder Maintenance Logs and coordinate Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) activities.
  • Develop Inspection Techniques: Ability to use a variety of inspection techniques, including visual inspections, dimensional analysis, and non-destructive testing methods like radiographic and ultrasonic inspections.
  • Train and Certify Welders: Engage in the training and certification of welders and fabricators.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Technology: Knowledge of robotic and automated welding technology and processes.
  • Enhance Product Flow: Collaborate with the manufacturing team to enhance product flow and assist with logistics and material handling as needed.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in metal welding and fabrication.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings and technical documents is extremely important to this role.
  • Welding Knowledge: Strong knowledge of welding processes and familiarity with manufacturing machinery such as press brakes, plasma tables, shears, mills, lathes, and welders.
  • Certification: Current or previous certification in welding standards (AWS D1.1, or similar) preferred, along with knowledge of other similar codes.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting fabrication drawing packages and weld symbols.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Teamwork: Problem solving and mentoring in a team environment, along with the ability to build strong working relationships is desired.
Education
  • Technical Degree: Technical degree or certification in a related field is preferred.
  • Continuous Development: Continuous professional development in quality inspection and metal fabrication processes.
